From a childhood sketchbook to pastel landscapes.

Since an early age I have enjoyed drawing. When I was 12 I had a trip to London and my Headteacher took me into the National Gallery — I had never been in anything like that before, and I loved all the paintings.

I kept my love of art going and began painting. When I started work I entered the UK Post Office Art competition and won it; my pastel paintings were sent to their international exhibition in Paris and Brussels.

I had a number of years break as I concentrated on my career, and I have only recently picked this up again in the last five years. I'm a leisure artist and really enjoy my hobby alongside my work at the moment. Painting dogs I find very enjoyable, and I'm just getting back into my pastel landscapes.

I may do more as time allows when I retire, but for now I'm just seeing what I can pick up and go with. I'm really enjoying working with pastel pencils — a new medium for me in the last couple of years.
